3. Jason,
Love the site. I've been following you since you had your magazine. Keep it up. Under religious views As a "religious" guy, I am always puzzled by those who think that religion has caused so many problems/deaths.
The inquisition is usually the card that's always played.
But do the math: Inquisition=5000 deaths Darwinian Communism= 30 million or Niche's Darwinian Fascism aka Hitler (a form of socialism)=6 million deaths and I could go on (Pol Pot (collectivist communist), Mao (communist) etc.) All these guys denied the existence of God and look at the hell holes they produced. If, however, you lay a map over the world of where Christianity has most prevailed throughout history, you will find the most freedom.
Reason demands that a higher power exists. If there ever was a time when nothing existed….then nothing would exist now. Descartes saw this when he said, “I think therefore I am”. He reasoned, “if I am, then God must be.” Simply because something doesn’t come out of nothing. This is why the Darwinian model is in crisis.
However, this hasn’t deterred the likes of Christopher Hitchens and his atheist friends. Hitchens debate with one of our leading thinkers is here http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2007/mayweb-only/119-12.0.html
(I’m biased of course, but I think our guy won).
Yes people kill people in the name of God. Muslims worship god and Christians worship God, but we don’t worship the same God. Any thinking Muslim would agree. So both Muslims and Christians may be wrong, but we’re both not right.
My point is don’t let those who do horrific things in God’s name (including breaking his commandment against murder), deter your search.
At any rate, keep up the great work. However, I hope that you will consider these things.
All The Best,
Chris
