Jason sat down recently with NPR's On The Media to discuss the issues surrounding the recent kerfuffle regarding the preference of some interviewees to do their interviews by email.
Unlike the version you may have heard on NPR, this is the 100% unedited version!
A truly interesting look at what happens behind the editing, after hearing this you may gain a whole new perspective on the often overlooked power of editing.

(Page 1 of 1)2. Excellent interview that was very telling and engaging!
Fact: Media is run by people. People are inherently fallible.

3. Fantastic interview. Exactly the right question to ask Jason. Why not provide the unedited source material of interviews and news stories online for those readers / listeners / viewers that are interested? The days of media being able to control and hide the process are over.

4. Was the the whole interview? Wasn't much, she spent more time making mistakes and defending the process...

6. A very interesting and funny show.
It wasn't until I thought about it afterwards that I realised how insidious misleading press edits have become: a light-hearted but mildly critical letter of mine was once read out on a BBC Radio programme. The presenter of the show (who was effectively the target of my criticism) edited one word from my letter, completely changing the meaning, and making me sound stupid. The only comeback available to me was to post the original email (and my follow-up one complaining about my treatment) on my website:

The former left-wing UK Member of Parliament, Tony Benn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Benn), made a habit of recording all of his press interviews, because he got so fed up of being quoted out of context.
