Note: I'm a fan of just using my cell phone an skype, but we need to be able to have folks buzz from the front gate and we want to be able to intercom each other, so the concept of not having a phone system is--unfortunately--not in the cards.

2. Hey Jason.
You want the TMC system. Just like the panasonic, only more expandable, you can get cool modules for it like (music on hold) and you can get adapters so you can use cordless phones with it. I just ripped out an expensive Panasonic system and installed these.

3. I don't know anything about the Panasonic phone, but I have used the AT&T 955 phones at home for years and they work really well. I think they have been replaced by the 974 model. http://www.hellodirect.com/hellodirect/Shop?DSP=30102&PCR=1:1:5:25:240:2060&IID=12030&itemskuid=12030

Costco usually has them too.

6. Another vote for the Uniden. I bought it a few years back after doing some research - I've heard poor things about the Panasonic.

8. As far as a home phone system, you should get a PBX phone system at http://www.1-satellite-tv-facts.com/Phone-Systems.html
