I thought he appeared to be drugged in the first pictures in Thailand, as he seemed to have trouble maintaining his balance, and seemed so detached from the surrounding mileu of reporters, and pushing and shoving around him. I think he has somehow come to make this is "big confession" in order to confess for the way he lives his life in general, but he has grandiose ideas of himself so therein lies the conflict. He cannot just admit to fondling children, and identifying with young girls, and be classified as a run-of-the-mill pedophile, but rather has to be the one who got away with a world-wide famous case. Thus, the detached manner of walking, talking, etc. (it is all a lie)
