AJAX is not a business model.
To all the first time entrepreneurs out there (who care to listen): page views mean nothing, revenue means something, and earnings mean everything.

(Page 1 of 1)2. hehehe (and a couple of good chuckles).
Peter's comments are partially right though, totally wrong category, it's a web site not software, however it is news when a Web 2.0 firm flogs it's main asset on ebay...the question I suppose to be asked though is how much VC or Angel funding did they burn to get to this stage? I'd think 50k though would make it a good investment if only for the technology behind it...moneterizing it is another question again though.
3. I agree with your post Jason, but Kiko is a real bargain at he suggested price tag, and it still has some potential in it.

4. At least the shipping is free.
I don't see anyone paying for it when it can be programmed in not that much time at all. If you buy it and don't know how to program, you need to hire a programmer.
Monetize by having the free version display events/ads for date-specific events near the person's IP address.
5. Funny I just mentioned you on Mark's blog, he was talking about unreliable web metrics

7. Someone is posting their business on eBay. But posting and sold are two very different things. If this actually sells, then we know we are in a bubble.
Not a horrible idea though. It sounds like the guys who built this are going to let it go anyway, why not try to get a couple of bucks before doing so. In looking at the description, I count about 10 Web 2.0 buzz words. Is the current market rate $5K per buzz word? Or is it $25K per Slashdot review?
8. I totally agree with this post. I personally hate the references to things like "bubbles" as well.
Oh, and in my mind as a programmer, AJAX is an assisting technology. It should be used sparingly and only to make someones life easier (say changing a dropdown box of 1,000 elements into an ajax search box). lol :)

11. I think that was well put.
Who knows, maybe someone will take the bait -- an aspiring 18 year old files a loan, co-signing with his mother, and becomes a millionaire. Now that would be a kicker.

12. this is not the first time that a website is being sold. On ebay maybe. Its been happening all over. Even if it sells, it wouldn't necessarily mean it s abubble about to burst.

13. Why would anyone buy those websites when they can be created with little effort and very little cash. I dont get it.

14. It looks like the listing has been removed from eBay. Does anybody has link to the updated listing or a screen shot?

15. Why did I never run over? Because I kept insisting on asking the stupid question "what's your financial model?"; I can't tell you the number of companies who told me they had 80% market share of the eyeballs, and their financial model was to IPO and cash in their stock. Nobody seemed to understand (or care) that stockholders actually wanted to make money some day; I simply couldn't fathom losing money on every customer, but making it up in volume. And, of course, most of them never did translate eyeballs to dollars....

17. Look at the rate at which AJAX websites are being sold right now and there are pretty good AJAX websites in the wild.

1. It's not really news that a website is being sold on Ebay. Though, they did list it in the wrong category. In fact, it's one of the better deals I've seen on there, most of what gets listed is rubbish.
