3. The site looks great, but I must say, I am quite disappointed by the linking you're doing. Why the hypocrisy?

Considering you have ranted endlessly about linking policies and CNET hiding actual links behind their own redirects, I was VERY surprised to see Netscape.com does the same thing. You are building a site entirely off of others' content, but not even giving the courtesy of a direct link that search engines can parse.

I know it's in beta, so for now I'll just consider it a bug I guess :)

7. I'm in the same boat as you, Sean. Can't get registered. Keeps returning errors like "no zipcode database" and messages like "please try back later." They must be hand cranking the page loads.

But hey, this is the way beta stuff is launched these days from big companies, so it's all par for the course.

It should become usuable in a few days.

8. Nate -- that's about to be a preference for users, we just have a laundry list of things to tackle right now. Some of us prefer it the navigator, others.. not so much. Personally, I'm torn.

It's still very much beta. Any and all feedback is really appreciated, even the "a01 sux0rz d1gg ru13z!" kids occasionally offer up something solid. ;)

10. Dang, who let the dogs out? This new netscape page is top notch. I can't wait to get into it in a few days to personalize it. Using a digg-like feature with news, yet anchoring it. Perfect mix, you guys really put some thought behind this. I keep telling the uninitiated that blogs are like online newspapers, and now I am not making it up, that is what we actually have. If you can't hear it I'm standing and clapping.

BTW, somebody by the name of "kevinrose" left a pretty interesting comment on the most popular thread over there. If that came from the real Kevin Rose and not an imposter that's a pretty refreshing view of things.

12. Looks interesting, but it won't let me register. It keeps bouncing back with "Invalid Birth Date", alth there is no field for that. And yes, I have clicked the "I certify that I am at least 13 years of age" tick box (I'm 39 ;-)

15. I'm an old My Netscape RSS publisher from way back, and my work with Philly Future has kept me involved in participatory media for a long time.

I think this is a very impressive launch. You folks deserve a round of applause. It will be great to see how this evolves, and if Yahoo decides to get into the same space.

16. In both IE and Firefox your site sends data every 5 seconds or so, causing the page to jump up or down about 1/8 inch. How annoying is that? I will give this site a pass until you fix that.

The LA Times mentions the risks that AOL is taking with this move.

"After the change, regular users could abandon Netscape for other general interest portals — such as AOL.com, MSN.com or Yahoo.com — if they don't like the new format.

"It could blow up in their face," Jupiter Research analyst David Card said."

I hadn't thought of this angle. Are Netscape.com users going to like the new layout when it comes into effect on the 1st July?

18. Jup, same here with the birth date. Perhaps some wrongly handled registration script which gets screwed up by people registering from IPs outside of the US?

19. Not sure where to go for help on this one.
I'm on a Mac in OS X with Communicator 7.2 and every time I Get Messages or try to run Junk Mail Controls, the program quits.
Any suggestions?
ISP, Hosting.com, had none and claimed their server was OK.
Even when I get the messages, they remain on Hosting, however.
