(Page 1 of 1)2. Why did you decide to start with Ohio? Is this decision mostly based on the availability of a particularly good writer, which in this case happened to be located in Ohio?
Or is something else weighing in?
I'd really like to know. Thanks.

3. As cool as it is that you chosen my home state I have to ask, are these people even from Ohio? The Akron stuff is pretty far off, though I don't mind the attention it brings to the city. Of course, it does get a reaction, which is what I look for from my bloggers.
4. This could tie in very well with Digitalcity & Mapquest

5. Starting with Ohio... genius.
Why? 'Cause everybody says, "Why Ohio... boy I can't wait 'til they get to *my* state!"
If WIN had started with New York or Cali, everyone would start the whole, "Here we go again. Start on the East/West Coast and work toward the middle."
NOW we have NO IDEA what will be next. It could be Alabama/Mississippi for all we know (please, please, please!)
Good work WIN.

6. My question is the following: was there some reasoning behind doing a statewide versus a truly local thing? 2nd what about BIG states like texas, no way one blog can cover everything. So will there be subdomains? i.e. Cleveland.bloggingohio.com ?
i think this idea is good, especially with a powerful array of tools in the warchest at AOL. best of luck w/it, local ad $ are going to be huge for this.

7. Fantastic idea! The company I work for did the state-centric thing too and built a network of sites for entrepreneurs and angel investors (FundingUtah.com, FundingNewYork.com, etc.) It has been extremely successful. As if you needed me to validate your model ... :)
If you need any help when you get to Utah, let me know. There's a huge blogging community here.

8. Welcome to the party! Looking forward to cool stuff we can do when we launch Metroblogging Cleveland.
The full state coverage is an interesting approach for sure however I think you missed a huge cross promo opportunity by launching Ohio like this, you could have paired up HackaDay with it and done a How-to build your own methlab which would have been much more expolsive.

10. Well, let's see ... Crains Business selected the following areas to produce business newspapers: Chicago/Illinois, Cleveland/Ohio and Detroit/Michigan.
I'm guessing that Blogging Ohio will be more of a Statewide Travel/Recreational/Tourism Guide to tie in with your upcoming automobile classifieds on Autoblog (hint, hint). Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania are probably idea for automobile related classifieds because ( a ) everybody working in those states probably drive to work; and ( b ) Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania don't really have the sex appeal of New York and LA, so there is probably no competition at this point for those areas.
I would have thought that Pennsylvania would have been a better choice because the State Tourism board for PA seems to be spending a lot more money buying ads and sponsoring blogs and websites than Ohio (but, I'm sure you know more about this than I do).
I think this is another good example of how to actually create a great travel site. Everybody and their brother are fighting to create generalize whitebread travel sites by major cities. But, I don't see that many people creating travel sites targeting sponsorship from State Tourism Boards and the motoring (automobile driving/buying) consumer.

1. Let's see, 50 states, how many territories? Yeah, this could be the start of something very big ;)
Is there something particularly bloggable about Ohio, or is this just a push to move blogging into "middle America?"
